Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study

The Centennial Campaign for Scandinavian Studies

  • The Centennial Campaign for Scandinavian Studies seeks to assure the future economic viability of the leading publication in its field, and of the Society itself, by soliciting gifts from major donors, matching grants from national agencies, and special donations from individual SASS members. SASS members, please click here to make a tax-deductible donation as often as you wish. The same link will also enable you to make donations to the SASS fund for student travel. For more information about the either the Centennial Campaign or the student travel fund, please contact secretary-treasurer Richard Jensen,

Joining the Society

Membership in the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study is open to all parties with a scholarly interest in the Nordic region. Membership in the society is negotiated on a calendar-year basis, beginning January 1, and its benefits include: four issues of Scandinavian Studies, the journal of the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study; SASS News & Notes, the society newsletter (usually published three times per year); the opportunity to participate in the annual SASS conference; and other benefits.

Membership is available in several categories (listed prices are for domestic US postal delivery): Regular ($55), Student ($30), or Retired ($30). Institutional subscriptions to Scandinavian Studies can be purchased for $85 annually for print only, $100 for electronic only, and $115 for combined print and electronic access. Delivery destinations in Mexico and Canada add $10 to the cost, and international destinations, $30. Individual Life Memberships are available for $750 ($900 for international delivery).

Membership and subscription services are handled by the journal's publisher, University of Illinois Press. New subscriptions can be processed through the UIP website: Renewal reminders for existing members are sent early in the calendar year and include a membership number for reference when using the online renewal system, also found at the UIP website for the journal.
