Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study
Submission Guidlines

Scandinavian Studies will consider articles of scholarly distinction on:

  1. Philological and linguistic problems of the Scandinavian languages, medieval and modern;
  2. The literatures of Denmark, the Faroes, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden;
  3. The history, society, and culture of the North

Please note that only those papers based on material examined in the original language will be considered. Submissions in language and literature should follow MLA guidelines especially with regard to citations and bibliographies. Submissions in other disciplines should accord with accepted conventions and style. When using sources difficult to obtain through interlibrary loan or which are not readily available in North American universities, authors are encouraged to send photocopies of the pages cited as well as the title page along with their submission. Translations should be subjoined to quotations from the Scandinavian languages. Translations of articles that have appeared or will appear elsewhere are not acceptable. Unsolicited reviews will be returned. North American contributors to the journal as well as active participants in the annual meeting must be members of the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study.
